Comment silence = no accent

So I tried to leave a comment on one of the N&O blogs today, but the site won’t accept my comment without me registering, even though I provided an e-mail address and website URL. Last time I try that, I guess.

Here’s the comment I wanted to leave regarding Triangle Grammar Guide Pam Nelson’s Northern accents post:

Interesting post, and I agree that describing an accent as Northern is very vague. But to your point about noticing different accents and speaking styles, perhaps encouraging people — newspaper readers and crime witnesses alike — to really listen to the differences in speech might make us all more observant and enlightened.
