I heard them when

NPR today covered new “laws on the books that would stop bands from performing under such iconic names as the Platters, Coasters, and Drifters, among others, unless they include at least one member of the original recording group.” That had me thinking back to high school, when my father enthusiastically took me to DeKalb’s Egyptian Theater to see Danny and the Juniors, a group from the Fifties, but I don’t think any of the guys performing that night were alive when the Juniors were hopping around. I had fun with my dad, but am still smarting about being deceived by the promoters of that concert. So I wholeheartedly support truth-in-music laws.
