Yesterday was Richard’s 50th anniversary as a master bookseller to Cleveland’s readers, which I wrote about here. He sat at home enjoying the holiday, and no one called to congratulate him (though Joe Cimperman did call to make arrangements for Richard to be honored by the Cleveland City Council later this month). Will you please call him today? Whether you know him or not, just call his answering machine and leave a message to this effect: “I hear you’re celebrating half a century as a master bookseller. As a reader, I’m very appreciative of what you’ve done over the last 50 years to support reading and writing. Thank you, Book General.”
