Blue lights and a siren today as I headed home from work, and then a nice young officer to tell me, with a gleam in his eye, that my car’s registration was quite a bit expired. Safety check sticker, too. As in, I should have renewed them both last August. The renewal notice from the DMV must have gone to the old residence. Not the best excuse, since I look through the safety sticker there in the corner of the windshield every time I drive the car. Damn. A citation worth a hundred twenty-five bucks, and an embarassing end to the week. (So why share it with the world, Anton? Maybe you’ll think to check on your vehicle registration—and your driver’s license—the next time you drive.)
