Tapas on the town

May 23, 2005

I set out on my own for dinner, and headed to Zambra tapas restaurant, where I thought I’d try the cerdo con porto (pork tenderloin with porto fig reduction) I’d seen on the menu earlier in the day. I sat down in the bar, ordered the pork along with aceitunas calientes (warm house marinated olives with preserved lemon) and a glass of ViÑa Alarba. Just as my food was about to come out, a group of JSI and MEASURE Evaluation employees walked in and invited me to join them for dinner. Whereupon we embarked on a two-hour tapas-and-wine feast. Fantástico.

Tomorrow, it’s back onto the treadmill, but tonight I’m savoring the tastes of a fabulous meal. (It’s nice to have been saved from my lonely dinner, where I was to have immersed myself in A House for Mr. Biswas.)
