Brace myself

Had an appointment with an orthodontist today, who examined my teeth and then looked me in the eye, saying, “You need braces, and it’ll take two-and-a-half years, but we’ll straighten your teeth.” When she left the room, her assistant gave me the price tag: $6000.

One way or another, I need to have my teeth attended to. They’re being ground down, chipped away and stress-fractured. Still, Dr. Hershey said I did have a good smile. “And you brush too well.” Another reminder to be gentle on the gums while I’m in there cleanig the enamel.
