Subway series

NPR commemorated the 100th anniversary of the New York subway system with this series of reports, which gives me an opportunity to recommend the fantastic novel This Side of Brightness, by Colum McCann. I read this on Paama, but McCann’s storytelling easily put me in the tunnels beneath Manhattan and the skyscrapers above. A beautiful book.
