A few years ago, NPR ran a series of reports about the best 100 songs. One report was about the Beach Boys’s “Good Vibrations.” Fabulous.

Last week, NPR followed up with a stunning report about Brian Wilson circling back to finish a musical project he started around the time of “Good Vibrations.” This latest report is about Wilson’s Smile, and it had me jamming and crying and praising genius and lamenting mental illness as I pulled into my driveway and sat in my car to listen.
