I was headed into my tenth hour of slumber this morning when the phone rang from the kitchen; my brother Joel was calling to wish me a happy birthday. Mom called soon after. (Joel and my mother are taking a Caribbean cruise on Sunday.) I looked at the clock – 7 a.m. – and then looked outside to see a beautiful sunny start to my birthday. It feels good to be rested. The last few weeks have been intense, and with many late night writing sessions, but the thesis is written and with my committee, the Narratives of HIV series behind me and the weblogs conference done. My Christ year turned out to be quite momentous. The highlight is still the birth of Malia.
Now, what to call this year ahead?
