Watch out for fire

Jun 18, 2003

Nick called Monday night, with stories of fear in front of a raging forest fire – he and his crew (the Payson Hotshots) were fighting a fire in eastern Arizona, and the supporting helicopters dropped the backburn fires too close. This left the crew facing a 35,000-foot invection cloud that then fell down to earth with hurricane-like winds. Nick made it out, and was on his way to Tempe in search of a cold beer. See this site to keep track of the fire’s that Nick will be fighting.

Mom left yesterday, spent the night in DeKalb and drove home to Holland, Michigan this afternoon. Fortunately, she missed the riots in Benton Harbour, on her route home.
