Bluegrass, yeah

The Steep Canyon Rangers: I’m just back now from a show at the Cat’s Cradle here in Carrboro. The Steep Canyon Rangers are a fine bluegrass band from these parts, and I know many Zuikers would enjoy their music. (The Old Crow Medicine Show opened with a fast-paced high-energy hillbilly music that was wonderful.) Steep Canyon features some very talented musicians: the mandolin player reminded me of Uncle Michael, and the banjo player made me remember Frank the Beachcomber. Last month when I visited Michael in D.C., he mentioned that he regularly plays the banjo that he inherited from Grandpa. Keep on pickin’.
