Big Guy Parade

May 28, 2002

To celebrate Memorial Day, we went with Tom and Katie to River Forest, to the home where Tom grew up and his parents still live. Tom’s father, Big Guy, is the energetic, unofficial parade conductor for the city’s annual Memorial Day Parade, which just happens to start in the street in front of the Michael home. Yesterday was a beautiful day, and the marching bands, flying candies and darling children made for a comfortable afternoon.

This morning, Erin left early for her first subway ride into the city for her summer job. Watch for her reports in this space later this week and all this summer.
