What matters

To Wait or to Flee Erin urged me to read this article from last Sunday’s New York Times Magazine. When she finished reading it, she was in tears; I just read it, and I, too, had tears in my eyes. This is a tragic story about the consequences of war, but also the vagaries of nature and human cruelty. And in the same magazine is an article about Gary Condit … my reaction, after reading the Afghanistan article: ”As if Gary Condit explaining himself even matters to this world.”
