Remember that elementary ditty, ‘There was an old woman who swallowed a fly. I don’t know why she swallowed a fly. There was an old woman who swallowed a spider. She swallowed a spider to get a fly. I don’t know why she swallowed a fly…’?
Yesterday, my darling Erin swallowed a spider along with a gulp of water, and before she could cough it up, the spider bit her esophagus. When Erin did expel the spider, the damn thing tried to crawl away. Erin’s throat still hurts. Yikes! Scary moment.
And today we have more anxiety—we’re on our way to the hospital in a few hours, so our baby can be coaxed out of its cozy womb. Pray for us. And check this space in the next day or two for word about Baby Z. (I seem to remember a story about one of the uncles swallowing a yellow jacket and being stung in the mouth. Can anyone elaborate on the details? Click the Discuss link below and type your info.)
