1001 Stories

Ira Glass in Memorial Hall tonight was just, well, “effing brilliant.” The man talked and riffed and paused and spun stories for nearly two hours, brilliantly building a case for storytelling and support for public radio and advocacy for the FCC backing off the obscenity crusade. What an inspiring talk—pefect for planting the seed of interest in the StoryBlogging effort. Glass ended with a gripping synopsis of Arabian Nights and had us on the edge of our seats.

  1. Wow, that’s well said. But to clarify my earlier comment: I was merely teasing you, Anton, certainly not complaining about your initial use of the word. It just seemed out of character for someone as Zen-like in their calmness as you. But then, reading and writing should always be full of surprises, no?

  2. A few people caught that my first post used the f-word in its full spelling – I’d put up a quick sentence to say the event was amazing, but didn’t take the time to explain the reference or why I felt I could/should use the word as it is correctly spelled. But, wiser voices prevailed, and I followed Ira Glass’s advice that the best way to fight indecency is with decency.

  3. I see you cleaned up your language a bit. Till then, I’m not sure I’d ever witnessed you using foul language. A first time for everything….
