What was that?

I’m in a meeting in my office in downtown Chapel Hill, and it sounded just now like a jet plane flew over us. Anyone witness this and can tell us what happened?

  1. It’s the annual “patriotic” show of force at a UNC football game. I do not appreciate it.

  2. Lalitree and WillR – thanks for the news. You’ve calmed my beating heart – thought the end was coming (I just read the NYTimes article on the rapture, so forgive my premillenial mindset).

  3. F15-E Strike Eagles practicing for the game this weekend – at about a sunk cost of $8-10K per hour (of course, strafing runs on a stadium do add to the required training hours ;-) ).

  4. Oh, and for the curious, they were reportedly F-15C Eagle jets.

  5. They flew over my building on campus three times. The first time I saw them—three fighter jets in formation, quite low. The second time I didn’t see them, the third time I thought I saw four. Word is that they’re practicing for a Keenan flyover for Saturday’s football game.
