The Tar Heel Tavern #34
The Tar Heel Tavern enforced a dress code of sorts: we wanted T-shirts and their tales, and the crowd came through. The thread of the threads, then:
- ae writes a loving tribute to her partner, shown wearing a T-shirt as he walks in the forest.
- terrilynn tells the story behind her no whining T.
- Laurie got her shirt from Penland School of Crafts, where she learned beading techniques, is another worn-but-loved shirt.
- Jane reminisces about a plain brown shirt she made herself during her busking-in-Harvard-Square days.
- Zha K finds an old T-shirt waiting on his childhood bed when he visits his parents and remembers the agony of defeet.
- Waterfall is still getting compliments on her 15-year-old shirt from Vancouver.
- “But you still have the tee shirt and you wear it all the time even though you know that means it won’t last as a keepsake forever,” says Alex Wilson, who went to eBay for his favorite band shirt.
- With her shirt, Jane’s looking to the future, as is Screwy Hoolie. We’ll see which one is still wearing her/his shirt on November 4, 2008.
- Ron Hudson got his in 1993 : “When I first saw the shirt, I remember seeing it through tears as I remembered my friends who had died by then.”
- Bora wears his heart on his sleeve for blogging, and his persistence is paying off – he’ll soon be teaching a blogging course at
N.C. StateNC Wesleyan.
- And mistersugar is still flying high in his VanAir T.
UPDATE:
- Erin Monahan recalls her first NASCAR race and the fan T-shirt she wore.
No word yet on next week’s requirements for entering the Tavern (though blogging is sure to be one); check the Tavern site for a link to the next host.
