Delights of the magazine
Long awaited, and just ordered: The Complete New Yorker
. Ever since I read my first issue (I wrote about that here), whenever I could, I’d wander the aisles of antique stores looking for old issues of the New Yorker, ever on the lookout for Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood” or John Hersey’s Hiroshima. This new set of DVDs, though, means I don’t have to search any more—the set has 80 years of New Yorker articles, cover art and cartoons (even the ads). I can’t wait to dig into it.
Speaking of exploring, digging and excellent long articles, I finished the Lost City of Z last night. (Read a fellow blogger’s post about his frustration with the New Yorker not webifying the article.)
