Tearjerker

Feb 26, 2007

Well, our Lenten agreement to shroud the television for the next 40 days didn’t last long, and Erin and I find ourselves on the sofa watching Oprah unveil her amazing, breathtaking new academy for girls in South Africa.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of those bright, brave girls as they tour the beautiful campus has washed away the frustration caused by the temporarily dismantled kitchen faucet. Erin reminds me that in Vanuatu, we took Enna and Priscilla and Terry to Port Vila for a week of opportunities and promise, a small effort when compared to Oprah’s grand project. But we can all do what we can all do.

Bravo, Oprah, bravo!
