Overheard at opening day of the new Durham Farmers Market — “I’m so proud of our city. Durham is such a great place”
Malia this morning gamely accompanied me to the market, where we tried chef Amy Tornquist’s delicious fritata of eggs, leek and goat cheese (Tornquist is to open her Watts Grocery in early fall), bought a bucket of strawberries from Lyon Farms and a goats-milk cheddar from Elodie Farms, and watched the dogs big and small.
We’ll be regulars at the market this summer, with an occasional visit back to the Carrboro Farmers Market.
