My academic advisor, Dr. Tom Linden, also surprised me this week by announcing that I’d been awarded the Maxwell Scholarship. This carries a monetary award; it’s a much-needed stipend that will help support me through the summer as I write more freelance stories, research my thesis project (probably infectious diseases) and improve my websites (Zuiker Chronicles Online and MedicalJournalism.info).
I’ve certainly been fortunate through my years of education – numerous individuals and foundations have supported me in my learning. They include my parents, of course, and my grandparents; Patti Rosenfeld; Uncle Mike and Nancy Swift; Paul Kantz; The Park Foundation; Tracey and Ken Maxwell. My sincere and deep gratitude to all of them, and to all of you who have helped me in your own ways. Thank you.
