Back now from a roadtrip to Atlanta to visit Erin’s brother, Dan, and his family. We helped Meaghann celebrate her sixth birthday; Christine had organized a party at the Center for Puppetry Arts in downtown Atlanta. We also walked through Centennial Olympic Park, which has a wonderful fountain in the form of the five Olympic rings. Water shoots up at various intervals, and kids have a ball running into the rings between water bursts (see Meaghann in the center of one ring, at right). On our way home from Atlanta, we stopped in to wish Tim Shaughnessy a happy 33rd birthday. Tim and Dawn and son Mac shared a nice dinner with us before we hit the road. Tomorrow Anna gets her six-month checkup. Today we took her to Wal-Mart to get a portrait taken. I hope she is as calm and sweet tomorrow when she gets her immunizations. Speaking of shots, even though anthrax is the major medical story these days, be sure to prepare for flu season. Some 20,000 Americans die each year of complications from influenza. Ask your physician if you should get the immunization this year.
